A 180-inch real car would be 10 inches long at 1:18. A longer truck or race car can be considerably larger. Leave clearance around the model.
What to compare
Check whether the specific release has opening doors, hood or trunk; look at wheel construction, mirrors, packaging and any included base. Features vary by maker and model.
Before checkout
Verify the exact trim, color, scale and dimensions. Consider shipping protection and the seller’s current return terms.
Translate a ratio into a real measurement
Find the real vehicle's published length in inches and divide it by the scale denominator. Repeat for width if your shelf is narrow. These are approximate planning figures: aftermarket body kits, protruding mirrors and a display base can change the space a finished model needs.
Display trade-offs beyond length
Consider how you will view the model. A large car may reward close inspection but use most of a shelf; smaller models can show a wider historical lineup. Neither scale alone nor a photograph establishes paint quality, moving parts or long-term durability.
A shelf-planning example
A 192-inch real car becomes about 10.7 inches long at 1:18. Add room for mirrors, a stand, the case walls and your hands when lifting the model. A nominal 11-inch shelf is therefore not a reliable fit.

Does 1:18 mean the doors open?
No. Scale describes size only. Some models have opening panels and others have sealed bodies.
